This blog is about my wife's journey. Her name is Carmen, and there are few people who I have met who have as much determination and drive.

In 2009, she couldn't run more than 500 meters. By the end of 2010 she was training for a marathon. At the start of 2011 she faced down a 25 year, uncontrollable fear of lake water (to say nothing of not being able to swim the front crawl) and by the end of the year she was swimming 4 km with one of the most beautiful strokes I've seen. While she was at it, she became an extremely strong cyclist, giving most men a run for their money (especially me). In fact, cycling became her strongest sport. By August of 2010, she completed a half-Ironman in Ottawa, ON (2km swim, 90km ride, 21km run). She is now training for a full Ironman in August 2012 in Louisville, KY.

She's also raising two beautiful daughters who are growing into beautiful adults, and over the last 9 years she has successfully built Toronto's largest home staging company (www.stagerighthome.com).

Carmen told me recently that there are several woman in her club who are spontaneously coming up to her and telling her that she is their inspiration, and that they would like to train with her. As she tells me this, her brow furrows, and she shakes her head. It doesn't make sense to her. Why would people feel that way? And she means it. She doesn't see herself the way others do.

I created this blog for my wife and her journey. She is a dog with a bone, and she inspires me.
